This activity was taken from the Noggin BuilderZĀ beginner activity book

The toy rocket kit that you construct with Noggin BuilderZ and play with while learning how pieces go together and even counting practice.

To build the toy rocket you’ll need:

  • 9 holders
  • 1 green rod
  • 1 disc
  • 2 spools

Start by putting a spool on both ends of the green rod

Next, put the disc on top of one of the spools and close with a pin

To make the rocket stand attach the other holders to the opposite end of the rocket to create the figure shown below

Toys to make that pair with the toy rocket:

  • alien figure
  • launch pad
  • astronaut

With knowledge from other activities and the pieces that are provided, have the children try to develop their own versions of these toys and anything else they may be able to come up with that pairs with a toy rocket.

The toy rocket combines cognitive and motor skills for an activity that is good for kids from preschool through primary school and they’re created a toy that they can continue to play with and build other toys to pair with the rocket.

Remember:

  • colors of rods and other pieces may vary
  • kit contains small pieces and may be a choking hazard, ages 4+
